Chilling in Caen near the merry-go-round. Son is having fun on it, daughter and wife are shopping for shopping-things. I'm just happy to be in a vibrant town again. It occurred to me our family feels more and more at home in a town instead of small villages. This will definitely impact future holiday plans!

Another nice run this morning. From our campsite to Utah Beach, one of the landingsites during D-Day. This area is filled with remnants and memories of this amazing military operation, 75 years ago. From tombstones to abandoned bunkers and commemorative plaques along the road.

We had a nice daytrip to Mont St Michel yesterday. Tons of tourists and very crowded but we managed to find a secluded place for drinks amongst the crowds. Beautiful place, worth visiting.

We dropped by a Jack Kirby exhibition on our holiday. A happy little accident so to say. The exhibition had some great panels drawn by the King of Comics. If you are near Cherbourg in Normandy, France, check it out!

Current setup for feeding the bio-hardware on our holiday. Minimal yet good.

A lazy day off with the family. After the funeral of my mother-in-law yesterday and all the arrangements that come with it we had to make last week, we really needed some downtime.

No walk in the woods, no beach, no sun in the park. Just the four of us at home, chilling in a hammock, finishing a jigsaw puzzle, reading and just be together. We really needed it. And it feels good.

Yesterday I rediscovered an old gem from my arcade past. Amidar, an arcade game published in 1981. You play as an ape or as a paint roller (yeah I know) Its basic format is similar to that of Pac-Man. Clear the board by collecting all the coconuts, or painting all surrounding edges. Such simple gameplay yet so much fun. Even 38 years later. To play Amidar on OpenEMU, you can find some ROM images of the game in various online places...

The kid is playing oldskool Kirby Adventures like a boss. Thanks to Open EMU software and some "accidentally" found ROM's...

Het is goed te merken dat ik minder hardloop deze laatste maanden. Mijn tempo gaat achteruit evenals miin uithoudingsvermogen. Het is tijd om weer wat vaker in de week te gaan lopen. Hey ho let's go!

First run of 2019 is done. Time to get back in shape after this weird December month...

I might be a year late to the party but the Nintendo Switch we got our son (and ourselves) this Christmas is one fine gaming machine. I just love the more friendly Nintendo style. Games included Super Mario Odyssee and Super Smash Bros. Great fun these days!

Re-reading Kevin Kelly’s book The Inevitable and wondering how he would think about these new movements towards decentralization and distribution on the edges.

Change takes time.

A year ago I was a couchpotato. Something had to change. I started running and today I ran the Singelloop in Utrecht. In a PR for me of 61:14 (official, my app said 61:30). This feels so good, even though I don’t like running with an audience. Now, let’s have a beer.

Every now and again I have this problem on my Mastohost hosted instance. Nothing loads and UI get the same error message for a while. Does anyone know what is up here? What helps is going to settings and back and everything works. That kinda feels like a Windows 95 solution... /cc @mastohost

🏃🏼‍♂️10,03 km

I am ready for the Singelloop next week here in Utrecht. Last year I was a spectator at the finishline. I had just started running myself and I made a promise I would run the 5 km this year. It turns out I can run 10 km now. It's something I still can't believe when I look back how I started a year ago.

Yes, I am proud of myself. It's not something I say a lot but this time I really accomplished something for myself. 💪
